Candidate Packets

Candidate packets are now available at the Guam Election Commission’s main office in suite 200, on the 2nd floor of the GCIC building in Hagatna.  The GEC will receive packets from candidates between April 24- July 3, 2012 for the Primary Election and June 29 – September 7, 2012 for those offices only on the General Election ballot. Candidates submit their completed packets in the following schedule:

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, candidates for I Liheslaturan Guåhan [Guam Legislature], offices of I Maga’lahen Guåhan [Governor] and I Segundu Na Maga’lahen Guåhan[Lieutenant Governor], Washington Delegate, Mayor and Vice-Mayor, the Public Auditor and the Attorney General shall file their declarations of candidacy with the Commission no earlier than one hundred and thirty (130) days before the primary election, and no later than sixty (60) days before the primary election.Notwithstanding any other provision of law, candidates for the Guam Education Policy Board, and the Consolidated Commission on Utilities shall file their declarations of candidacy with the Commission no earlier than one hundred and thirty (130) days and no later than sixty (60) days before the general election.

The Commission shall publish in a newspaper of general circulation the names of all candidates and the offices for which they have declared their candidacy after each filing deadline.

NOTE: If you intend on picking up a packet on someone’s behalf, you must have a letter of authorization from that person to do so. This authorization should be clear and concise, using legal names and identifications, stating which person is the courier and which is the intended candidate.
